Clock and Node.js

Node.js is a technology that holds a particularly compelling argument for developing and deploying web-based applications. It was initially launched in 2009 and our CTO, Paul Serby quickly became convinced of its advantages for Clock as well as our clients. We adopted it very early and the result is that Clock has become one the leading Node.js development agencies in the UK and far beyond.

So what is Node.js?

It is a platform for writing high-performance, scalable web applications and network programs in JavaScript - the de facto language of the web.

Why do we use it?

Well, to create great user-facing elements of a website or application developers need to be proficient using JavaScript. But when it came to the server side technology, the back-end, it was generally written in another language. Node.js allows one common language across both user facing and server side parts of a web application.

Why is it good for our clients?

  • Performance is a huge aspect for any organisation and Node.js is well known for allowing websites to deal with huge traffic spikes without losing performance.
  • Designing scalable applications can be challenging yet the scalability of Node.Js allows development to happen much quicker. What does this mean for our clients? Better development and quicker, meaning cost efficiencies.
  • And don't just take our word for it. Some of the world's largest and most well known organisations use it, from Facebook, to LinkedIn, to Walmart and Netflix.
